I am a designer and a researcher. I am interested in connecting design and research in meaningful and fruitful ways. For example, I am exploring how socio-ecological models can inform the design of solutions for major societal challenges such as obesity prevention. Previously, I studied how the physical environment around large schedule displays supports coordination in surgical suites.

My training and career path link architecture, interaction design, and human-computer interaction research. While in Italy, I worked in architecture studios and was part of the A12 architecture collective. My interest in physical environments and information technology emerged while collaborating with new media artists on installations in museums and art galleries. To pursue my interests, I went to Carnegie Mellon University, first to study interaction design and then to study human-computer interaction research.
